Delete your SideSeat account

Last updated: August 2026

You can delete your SideSeat account and personal data at any time, from the app or from this website. Deletion is immediate and permanent — there is no grace period and we cannot restore an account afterwards.

1. How to delete your account

In the Android app: open Profile, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete my account. Choose a reason, type DELETE to confirm, and the account is removed straight away.

On the website: log in and go to Account → Delete my account, or write to support@sideseat.in from the address on your account and we will action it for you.

2. What we delete

  • Your name, email address, phone number and password.
  • Your date of birth, bio, profile photo and travel preferences.
  • Your saved vehicles and postal address.
  • Your KYC records — the last 4 digits of your Aadhaar, its one-way hash, and both document photos.
  • Your ride alerts and push notification registrations.
  • Your upcoming published rides and bookings, which are cancelled.

3. What we keep, and why

A carpool involves two people, so a few records belong to your travel companions as much as to you. Those stay, but nothing in them identifies you: your account shows as “Deleted user” with no photo and no contact details.

  • Trips already taken — so the other traveller keeps their own history.
  • Ratings you left — deleting them would silently rewrite another member's rating score.
  • Messages in a conversation — so the other person's side of the thread still makes sense.
  • Coin transactions — kept as an anonymous ledger entry so the wallet balances stay auditable.

4. After deletion

Your email address and phone number are released, so you are free to sign up again from scratch at any time. It will be a brand new account — none of your previous rides, ratings or coins carry over.
